You Know You're a Mom When......

I officially went from mom-to-be to Mom on St. Patrick's Day of 2012! It's been the most amazing experience of my life and everyday it just gets even better. I never thought I would be a mom, let alone enjoy it as much as I am. It's packed with emotions (high and low), trial-by-fire, laughter, cuteness, all those firsts, sleepless nights, cuddles, snuggles, and so so much love! There's also alot of other stuff in between....like poop....lots of poop!

I've been thinking about all the ways my life has changed. So I decided to start a list of those things that make me giggle about how my life has changed as a mom.

You Know You're a Mom When......

1. You see a booger hanging half out of your baby's nose and just go for it and get the tissue later.
2. Your baby spits up down your shirt...on the inside...somehow it gets on your face...and you just wipe your baby's face and give them a kiss.
3. You check a diaper and get poo on your hands and instead of puking...you say energetically to your baby..."somebody made a poopie!"
4. Your baby drools on you, you can feel it dripping down your arm, and you just go with it.
5. You leave the house for a night out and there's dried spit up on your blouse!
6. Your husband comes home and you hand him the baby claiming you have to go to the bathroom. You go to the bathroom, turn the fan on, and just hang out awhile reading a magazine...or just leaning against the wall with your eyes shut.
7. You've cried because you're so tired and your little one won't sleep.
8. You've experienced the 3 P's and had to change your clothes...sometimes multiple times a day. Puked on. Peed on. Pooped on.
9. You've changed some diapers that left you wondering where all that was before it filled the diaper!
10. You sometimes forget when you last showered, or showered by yourself...and have to make a conscious effort to brush your hair. (maybe this is just me)

I'm a new mom so there's a lot of things I haven't had to deal with yet....but I'm sure I will....like the mysterious disappearing diaper I've heard about. So I need your help completing this list. Let's make a funny light hearted list!

DIY Cloth Diaper Prefolds

Some of you have asked about how to make your own prefolds. Well, I'm certainly no pro....I'd probably not even be considered an amateur...lol! That being said, I have managed to hand-sew my own flannel prefolds...albeit with some uneven lines. I'm also only marginally good at following directions, so I'll give you the links to the directions I read. Then I'll tell you what I did differently...and the mistakes I made.

CoverBum Cloth Diaper Review

I was recently sent 2 CoverBum Pocket Diapers to try. The inner gussets on these pockets caught my eye and I had to try them! Angeline, the owner of CoverBum Diapers, let me choose 1 Solid Color Inner Gusset with Rainbow Snaps and 1 Minky Inner Gusset. This seems to be a trend with me, but I had to go with the Orange Solid and the Giraffe Minky (orange colors)!

Why I Love Avon

Now I know Avon does not fall into the green living or local business values I have....but every once in awhile there's a corporation that deserves a kudos!

One of the best part-time jobs I had in college was working at this little kiosk in our local mall. It was called Avon in the Mall. The owner was an Avon Representative and part of a new program by Avon where you could have a kiosk or store. I grew up with Avon....my grandma used it, and I used to play with all her empty Avon bottles. My favorite was a silver little fawn. You remember those right? Glass perfume or cologne bottles shaped like deer, little girls, trains, ducks, etc. You can occasionally find them at thrift stores and vintage booths at the flea market.

Second Hand Treasures!

It's a Saturday morning...7am...Grandma, me, and my older sister Jessie are loading up in the car. It's going to be a long day. There's a few specific neighborhoods we've got to hit, then it's off driving around looking for that unmistakable sign....Yard Sale! Moving Sale! Garage Sale! Neighborhood Sale! Church Sale! I've been looking forward to this all week! I wonder what "treasures" we'll find today. After the sales, we'll go to the flea market, then maybe hit the thrift stores like Goodwill and Salvation Army. I just love Saturdays with Grandma....both Grandmas actually.

  Well...not really...but it sure feels like it. It's been less than 24 hours since the internet we share with our upstairs neighbor went out. So Here I am at the Wellington Library with my 3.5 month old Immie. She doesn't understand the quiet policy, but that's okay. It's amazing how dependant I am on the internet.
