A Happy Green Life Natural Laundry Wash Review

Hey there all you cloth diapering Momma's! I know we are constantly searching for a great cloth diaper safe detergent. It's important to keep those diapers in perfect working condition....it's even more important that there is no detergent residue that could cause irritation to our little ones' bums. Well, I was recently given the opportunity to review Natural Laundry Wash made by A Happy Green Life.

I was able to choose the scent I wanted to try. With over 25 scents to choose from, it was a hard choice. They all sound awesome! The makers of A Happy Green Life are very creative with their fragrance combinations and the names they've given each! So when I saw Monkey Farts, I had to try that one! It's called Monkey Farts....how awesome is that?

Here's the description for Monkey Farts:

A unique fragrance that begins with top notes of fresh bananas and juicy grapefruit, middle notes of kiwi, juicy bubblegum, and strawberries; and a hint of vanilla as a base note. 

I was excited to get it because it was hard for me to imagine how this all comes together. I'm happy to say that Monkey Farts is a great scent! It's not too fruity...which I thought it would be for my tastes. It also doesn't smell gender specific...so I've been using it for all of our laundry. You can definitely get the banana smell and then it turns into a nice soft fruity smell.

Ok...now onto how well it works. First thing I'd like to say is that A Happy Green Life Natural Laundry Wash was created by two cloth diapering mommas. Amanda and Kristin wanted detergent that was safe for diapers but effective enough for all the other clothes. With one daddy being a chef and the other being in the military...they designed their detergent to get the diaper stink out, kitchen smell out, and to meet the strict regulations for washing ACU's.

Have they done that? Yes, I believe they have. I've been using A Happy Green Life Natural Laundry Wash for a few weeks now. We have a regular washer...as you can see in the above photograph...it's old too! I've washed Immie's diapers multiple times in warm and hot cycles. I've also washed mine and Immie's clothes in warm cycles and daddy's kitchen clothes (he's the head cook and general manager of a restaurant) in heavy warm wash cycles. Everything has been coming out fresh and clean...a very hard task for daddy's kitchen clothes. I'm amazed really! I don't know how to describe it, but our clothes feel completely rinsed...free of any residue. Which now makes me realize my old detergent was leaving residue!

Instructions for Use:

Add one scoop to washer load, 1/2 scoop fro HE washers. For tough stains: apply directly to stain, rub lightly, wash as usual. For stronger scent: allow clothes to soak before cycle begins.

I use one scoop for our loads. There are no suds with this detergent...suds are not indicative of wash effectiveness....they are actually unnecessary. Our clothes are left with a very subtle scent...which I like. I haven't tried soaking to create a stronger scent. Below you'll see 2 pictures. The first is of an organic bamboo pocket and a hemp/cotton insert. They are heavily soiled, and I'm embarrassed to say, have been sitting in the pail for too many days. The second picture is the same diaper and insert after just one wash with A Happy Green Life Natural Laundry Wash.

I definitely give this detergent 2 thumbs up! The bag I received is a 3 lb 50/100 loads size. At only $10 a bag....that's .10 to .20 cents per load....it's an excellent price. Update 9/20: Shane, my fiance, actually asked about the new detergent I'm using because he noticed a difference in his clothes! Wow! He never notices things like that. He manages a restaurant and is also the head cook. Normally his clothes still smell like kitchen after washing...since we've been using A Happy Green Life Natural Laundry Wash his clothes are actually smelling better. I can wash them with my clothes now too without my clothes taking on kitchen smell! I just to share!
